About Our Fellowship

Potomac Protogrove is a nature-based spiritual, philosophical, and social group under the Reformed Druids of North America (RDNA), a modern druid order founded in 1963, located in the Washington D.C. area. We share many of the same progressive values and non-discriminatory policies as Oakdale Grove in Minnesota and welcome new members of any background or religion who wish to experience fellowship while honoring the Earth-Mother and the powers of Nature - represented in the RDNA mostly by a mixture of Irish, British, and Gaulish pagan deities - as expressed in the local environment. We usually meet outside for simple rituals marking the turning of the seasons, but may also visit museums, monuments, restaurants, pubs, cathedrals, and other places of interest.

Potomac Protogrove Constitution

We, the druids of Potomac River Valley (including Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland) in order to celebrate the mystery and grandeur of our lives, upon the time of eighteenth August, 2022, do hereby enact this, our Constitution.

Article I
The name of this fellowship shall be Potomac Protogrove of the Reformed Druids of North America.

Article II
One may become a member of this fellowship upon presenting a petition stating they believe in the Basic Tenets of Reformed Druidism as set forth in this Constitution. Members, in order to be considered active, must attend no less than two Grove events per year.

Article III
The Two Basic Tenets of Reformed Druidism, as paraphrased by us, are these:
1: Spiritual fulfillment can be achieved and expressed through Nature.
2: Nature, though challenging, is profoundly important in our human experience

Article IV
There shall be three officers of the Protogrove:
1: The Liturgist shall preside over sacred services, and shall be the principal officer in matters of the spiritual.
2: The Secretary (Sacrificer), shall assist in services, and shall be the principal officer in matters of the secular.
3: The Preceptor, shall assist in liturgical services.

Article V
Democratic elections of officers shall be held by ballot annually upon Autumnal Equinox. The Liturgist reserves the right to appoint a pro tempore substitute for an absent officer, and likewise to appoint a pro tempore Liturgist should the need or request arise.

Article VI
This Charter may be ratified by a majority vote in two consecutive meetings of this organization. A quorum, which shall be no less than three members but at least one third of the active membership, should be present in order for voting to be carried out for elections and major decisions.

Article VII
I certify this to be a true and accurate record of Potomac Protogrove's Charter of the Reformed Druids of North America, declared and approved at two consecutive meetings by a quorum of the membership, and signed by:

Founding Members
[Druid I], Founding Provisional Liturgist
[Druid II], Founding Provisional Secretary
